If I could give the most rewarding of all gifts to everyone, it would be a gift to watch your child blossom even with a disability. We take things for granted today and we never stop to smell the roses, we never look at what acomplishments some one else has made, we judge, we critizise, we do the unthinkable.
Once you become a parent with a child that has a learning disability you become protective, always there to protect that child. I gave my son the ability to explore his world, I gave him positive rewards and thats NOT food or candy it was a good ole pat on the back. I took him places that were full of people and explained this is what and how we do. I learned to help him learn how to speak with pointing and expressing as I pointed, I gave in even with the slightest sound.
My gift to you would be the understanding of your childs world to better help you help them. One on one is the best gift you could give your child this yeareven if it means singing roudolph in the middle of summer!
Merry Christmas and God Bless
